World War 2 is the deadliest war fought in human history. It was fought between the Axis powers(Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and the Japanese Empire) and the Allied Powers(Britain, France, and the United States).

Before the war, Germany invaded lands under Adolf Hitler, who would negotiate with France and Britain. Those lands included Austria and Czechoslovakia.

On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland with the help of Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union. Poland would be divided in half between the two growing powers. Britain and France immediately declared war on Germany. For this reason, signed the Tripartite Pact with Japan and Fascist Italy.

In May, 1940, Germany overran Europe- including France- and Britain stood alone. At Dunkirk, the remaining Allied forces in the European Mainland retreated to English shores.

In the German-occupied land, minorities such as Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, gays, and the disabled were horribly mistreated and sent to horrible places called concentration camps.

Japan, Italy, and Germany focused on different places, or rather, different continents. Italy focused on Africa, Germany focused on Europe, Japan focused on Asia. Germany was trying to take Britain. Italy was taking weak African nations. Japan was taking Pacific Islands,China, Korea, and engaging rebellions in British India.

When Hitler invaded the European mainland, he then decided to launch a full-scale invasion of the Soviet Union. The Soviet forces were not ready for the surprise invasion.

The Soviets trained hard, and then a valuable force came to assist the Soviets... winter! The Germans expected Russia to surrender before winter. The harsh Russian climate poured on German forces. At the Battle of Stalingrad, the Germans faced a heavy defeat.

The Japanese on the other hand, bombed Pearl Harbor in the United States. Thus, resulting in the entrance of the United States into the war. The Japanese later said, " I am afraid all we have done is awoken up a sleeping giant." The U.S. struck a decisive blow onto the Japanese at the Battle of Midway.

While, in Africa, the U.S. and Britain slowly pushed the Axis out of the continent. In Europe, the Allies pushed Germany back on all fronts. As the Allies pushed into Italy, the Italians were getting very wantful at kicking the Fascists out of office. And so, they did. They became Allies of America.

The Germans were soon captured, and only Japan remained. The Americans were working on the Manhattan Project, a project to produce an atomic bomb. The first nuclear bomb was tested in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Fat Boy and Little Boy were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The war ended on September 2, 1945.
